Issaquah Middle School

(Cougar Mountain Middle School)

We worked to provide the steel for Issaquah Middle School. In 7 months, we fabricated and delivered 1800 tons of steel 784 miles to the site in Issaquah, Washington. It was a great opportunity to shine at what we do best – custom structural, miscellaneous metal fabrication, and ornamental steel.

The highlight of this project was the unique trusses spanning up to 80-0. These trusses needed to be custom-designed, with an extremely low tolerance due to the tie in points

“We arranged trusses that were from 55 to 80 feet long. It was extremely difficult because logistically we had shipping and  fabrication issues because of the size. However, our production team knocked it out of the ballpark being able to fabricate these and getting all the proper permits.”

The project needed both ferrous and nonferrous materials. That combined with a tight timeframe on delivery and no laydown room at the project site made it a very complex project.

We developed a clear upfront plan to create open lines of communication and immediate information relay. It required in-depth collaboration with the general contractor to accomplish such a difficult task. Cougar Mountain Middle School is now open to the public and will serve the community for many years to come.
